B.I.D.E.

BIDE organizes satellite events, with the same concept of the Barcelona event, in different cities and locations with the collaboration of our partners. For 2011, the first BIDE satellite event will happen in Ponderosa, Stolzenhagen, Germany (www.ponderosa-dance.de) - more information below! During the next years, satellite events will be held in new locations in Europe.

This year, Barcelona International Dance Exchange will do its first satellite event abroad. We will be hosted by Ponderosa, in the beautiful surroundings of Stolzenhagen, Germany.

SatelliteBIDE Ponderosa June 26th - July 1st, 2011

We look forward to gather an international group of 30-40 participants, with different backgrounds and experiences, but with the common interest in developing, researching and exchanging ideas in dance. We will offer a structure of daily changing laboratories to support a non-hierarchical atmosphere of meeting and sharing, doing try-outs and showing the work to each other.

During BIDE, there will be no classes. The structure is based on the idea of participants offering laboratories. The first day's laboratories will be lead by artists familiar with the form, and guiding everybody to the way of working. The theme of how to work in labs is an ongoing discussion and a research in the event.

Venue

Run by a group of international artists, Ponderosa runs events and festivals in its venue in the village of Stolzenhagen, just an hour away from Berlin. The location has two studios with dance floors, different housing possibilities, full equipped kitchen, and nature all around. www.ponderosa-dance.de.

How to get there

Housing

The event fee includes housing (sleeping in the house on mattresses/tenting with your own tent). If you would like to have a private room, this is possible with a small extra fee. Please contact us for this option!

Meals

Food is included in the price. There will be a professional cook who will provide us with nutritious vegetarian food. If you have severe allergies, please contact us beforehand and we will let the kitchen know.

Schedule

BIDE will begin on Sunday night, 26th of June, with a dinner, so you can arrive from 18.00 onwards. We will finish the event program on Thursday night 30.6. and end together with a breakfast on Friday morning on July 1st.

Price

260€, including housing and food.

Grants

BIDE will offer grants to the participants of the event in Barcelona in March 2011. Also our partners support artists with giving scholarships. If you are working with an institution/company that could support your participation to BIDE and/or become partners with BIDE, please contact us as we are happy to help you with this.

Structure

During four days BIDE is introducing a structure to work in groups formed by various interests and inputs from the participating artists. We will work in study labs according to the themes chosen, and participants are free to choose each day the lab they are most interested in working in. This working method requires the artists to share their knowledge and creativity. In the end of each day space to exchange the results of the labs, which will happen in the form of showing and performance.

A study lab is a platform where all participants can bring in ideas related to the theme of the lab, and engage themselves in the exploration process. In BIDE, the idea of a lab is to support focusing to a question or theme related to dance. Each lab group will have a facilitator, but his/her role is not to teach. The facilitators will make sure to keep time, provide a structure and encourage people to contribute their own ideas and find their own answers in the process. The structure will allow participants to have time to explore and, in the end, share their discoveries with the rest of the group.

To structure the labs, we propose different starting points and approaches to offer the working sessions throughout BIDE. The first study labs during BIDE will be facilitated by participants experienced in this method, and in the following days there will be space for those who are interested to facilitate a lab.
